Dalhousie - A North India Hill Station


Dalhousie nestles in the northern territory of India near Himalayas. Dalhousie has the winter like climate through out the year. Dalhousie also experience the snow fall during the peak winter period of December and January. Most of the building structures are made by Britishers especially Bungalows and churches. Dalhousie was established in 1854 by British Governor General Lord Dalhousie with a purpose for the stay of British troops and bureaucrats, so to avoid the heat of Indian Plains.

The places of tourist interest in Dalhousie are Dainkund Peak, Khajjiar, Bakrota Hills and Village Lohali and other important places are:

Churches - Four beautiful churches St. Andrew's Church and St. Patrick's Church at Balun, St. Francis church at Subash Chowk and St. John's Church at Gandhi Chowk.

Subhash Baoli - mesmerizing place surrounded by majestic trees and the place where Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose spent time in 1937, meditating.

Panchpula - a beautiful place which has many pools and a monument in the memory of Freedom Fighter Sardar Ajit Singh.

Kalatop - a wildlife sanctuary and home for Ghoral, and Himalayan Black Bear

For Shopping - Tibetab Handicrafts such as carpets, slippers, Rumals and shawls are best buy during your visit to Dalhousie.

Dalhousie is also the gateway to the Ancient Hill District of Himachal Pradesh i.e. Chamba, Khajjiar and ManiMahesh.

How to Reach:
By Road: From Delhi, it will be overnight road journey by bus.
By Train: Take the train to Pathankot and from here it is 1 and half hour drive
By Flight: Take the flight to Amritsar and from here it is 3 hours drive
