Famous Tourist Places of Sikkim

Sikkim in North Eastern part India is best option to travel during summer season. Sikkim has huge tourist potential and can be a desirable travel destination for any traveler who is much towards Nature, cultural and heritage interest. More importantly, locals are friendly with foreigners and there is no hostile feeling towards travellers. No shopping pushers guides or drivers, no cheaters, no touts except the place from where you will start your road journey either New Jalpai Gudi Railway station or Bagdogra Airport. You need to be aware of drivers and touts who keep pushing you to hire their taxis. Once you overcome this situation as this is common at every tourist place in India, rest of the journey will be smooth and comfortable.

Gangtok is the capital city of Sikkim, located in the east part, is also the hub for all businesses. Gangtok is the place from where you can proceed to have the mesmerizing experience of natural beauty of Tsomgo Lake, Baba Mandir and Nathula Pass which is historically important. To reach these places Tsomgo Lake, Baba Mandir and Nathula Pass, travellers must have to take the permit one day in advance, for which you need to contact your hotel and assist them with your two passport size photos and xerox of your photo ID (passport / driving licence etc.).
Within Gangtok city, there is plenty to see starting with visiting MG Road, a small but beautiful market with clean pedstrains, street pole lamps with speakers playing soft music, flowers and plenty of benches to sit. MG Road side is covered by hotels, restaurants, shops also not to forget wine shops. Apart from MG Road, other tourist places to visit in Gangtok are Rumtek Monastery, Ganesh Tok View Point and also a small temple, Hanuman Tok another beautiful View point to See the world from highest point and also temple devoted to Hanuman, Himalayan Zoological Park to sight Red Panda, Enchay Monastery, Do Drul Chorten Stupa, Institute of Tibetlogy. Although there many others places to visit but latter mentioned are important to see. One can also enjoy the ropeway ride if the weather conditions are favorable.

Western Sikkim part is though more history and religion based. This part has some holiest and important monasteries of Sikkim which includes Dubdi and Sanga Choling, the first monasteries were constructed in Sikkim. Western part of Sikkim has beautiful lakes and waterfalls and offers great opportunity to trek various routes.
